Responsibilities

The Role

As the Vice President of Finance, your primary responsibility is to ensure the company's finances - past, present and future - are accurate and timely.  You will do this through a combination of (i) business leadership, (ii) hands-on financial management and (iii) oversight of the global accounting and finance staff.  You will be the “go to” person leading a team for all types of financial, accounting and analytical needs of a dynamic IT services company.  You will be guided by an experienced local Managing Director as well as mentored by a seasoned CFO based overseas.  The company is growing rapidly and evolving to meet new business opportunities and address market needs.

To succeed in this role, you will be motivated, high-energy, detail-oriented and a team player.  While the finance and accounting team is largely in Vietnam, and business personnel are also largely in Vietnam, this role provides financial leadership for all of the company’s global operations including a US parent company and other Group entities in Vietnam and other countries.

Job summary:

  • Manage the local finance and accounting team of nearly 10 people who process all accounting transactions for the global business, including monthly close in accordance with US GAAP and issuance of standard and ad-hoc financial reports
  • Work with small US accounting team for US statutory and governance purposes such as global taxation issues
  • Serve as Chief Accountant for local statutory requirements
  • Be an active participant in the company’s local executive team for business decision-making to ensure issues include a financial perspective; also participate in global executive team discussions
  • Hire, mentor and train local finance and accounting staff; develop career paths for future growth of personnel
  • Ensure timely and appropriate implementation of ERP system during 2021 as part of a project team which includes IT and several members of accounting
  • Present company’s financial reports to global executive team monthly, quarterly and annually
  • Lead annual budgeting and semi-annual reforecasting processes with assistance from accounting team; consider implementation of new forecasting systems for 2022
  • Refine definition of accounting and finance shared services function to clarify services available to other Group companies
  • Report to local Managing Director and US-based Group CFO

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • 15-20 years of overall accounting and finance experience, including 5+ years working in a dynamic industries or environments with frequent change
  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in accounting, finance, economics or similar field
  • CPA license or Vietnam equivalent is a plus
  • Business and financial skills in addition to finance and accounting knowledge
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in both Vietnamese and English
  • Hunger to learn and high levels of energy to sustain fast-paced operations and frequently evolving business needs
  • A go-getter who works hands-on and independently to accomplish goals with limited oversight of daily tasks
