Responsibilities

We are looking for a Lead Test Automation Engineer who has a strong background in both automated and manual testing. In this role, you will develop and maintain robust automated testing solutions using modern tools like Cypress and Playwright, while also applying your skills in manual testing, including exploratory testing, black-box testing, and integration testing. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in automation testing, as well as a solid understanding of testing methodologies and a passion for creating efficient, scalable, and high-quality solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Test Automation Development:

    • Lead the design, development, and execution of automated test scripts for web applications using Cypress or Playwright.

    • Guide the team in selecting appropriate automation tools and frameworks that align with project requirements and team capabilities.

  • Technical Leadership:

    • Serve as the technical authority on testing and automation practices, setting standards for automation development and testing methodologies.

    • Provide technical guidance and support to team members, helping them troubleshoot complex issues and implement best practices in test automation.

  • Automation Framework Maintenance:

    • Oversee the development and maintenance of automation frameworks that are robust, reusable, and scalable. Ensure ease of maintenance for both technical and non-technical team members.

  • Manual Testing:

    • Perform exploratory testing to identify unexpected behaviors and issues in the application.

    • Conduct black-box testing to evaluate functionality from an end-user perspective.

    • Execute integration testing to ensure seamless interaction between different parts of the application.

  • Test Execution and Reporting:

    • Run both automated and manual tests, analyze results, identify issues, and report defects. Collaborate with QA and development teams for efficient test coverage and defect resolution.

  • Collaboration:

    • Foster a collaborative environment by working closely with cross-functional teams to align on test coverage, priorities, and automation goals.

    • Cultivate relationships with stakeholders to ensure testing objectives are met and to communicate testing progress effectively.

  • Team Leadership:

    • Mentor and guide team members, promoting professional development through training, knowledge sharing, and conducting code reviews.

    • Lead team meetings, facilitating discussions around testing strategies, progress updates, and challenges faced by team members.

  • Continuous Improvement:

    • Stay updated on trends in test automation tools and best practices. Implement improvements to enhance automation efficiency, reduce maintenance overhead, and increase test coverage.

    • Encourage team members to contribute ideas for process enhancements and foster an environment of innovation.

  • Documentation:

    • Maintain clear documentation of automation processes, manual testing methodologies, frameworks, and scripts to ensure transparency and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Lead Automation Engineer with a strong focus on web test automation using Cypress or Playwright.

  • Extensive hands-on experience in automating web application tests with Cypress or Playwright.

  • Strong proficiency in programming/scripting languages (JavaScript, TypeScript, or similar) for writing automation scripts.

  • Experience with manual testing methodologies, including exploratory, black-box, and integration testing.

  • Solid understanding of Agile methodologies and the software development life cycle (SDLC), with experience in an Agile environment.

  • Proven track record of developing and maintaining automation frameworks that enhance testing efficiency and coverage.

  • Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot complex issues and provide practical solutions.

  • Experience with version control tools, particularly Git.

  • Excellent team collaboration and leadership skills, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Experience with other automation tools or frameworks (e.g., Selenium, TestNG).

  • Familiarity with performance/load testing tools.

  • Experience in cloud-based testing environments.

  • Familiarity with test data management and creating test scenarios based on business requirements.
